The ETO display contains a comprehensive display of the light weapons deployed in that campaign. On the German side it covers the gamet of weapons from the P-08 Luger pistol to the MG 42 machinegun, one of the most dreaded weapons that the American GI faced on the battlefield. .
The display offers the opportunity to see all of the major light infantry weapons in the ETO, and the changes as the technology of war evolved to a higher level. It provides the visitor with a rare opprotunity to see and understand all of the weapons that were the basic tools of war for the soldiers of both sides.
The Panzerfaust", one of the first rocket propelled grenades, along with its operating instructions are on display here and in Exhibit 7a. A Panzerschreck is on display with the Paratrooper in Exhibit 6b.
The Grenade 24, commonly referred to as the "Potato Masher," along with the standard M39 egg grenade, and the interesting BK glass grenade provide a comprehnsive view of the basic German hand grenades.
Also on display is an extensive collection of the most common German mines such as the Teller anti-tank mine, the "S" MIne (Bouncing Betty), the wooden "Shu" mine and the Glasmine 43.
No No display of comat weapons would be complete without the most basic:tools of the trade. wo versions of the German entrenching tool demonstrate the point that even in WW2 there were times when these were the weapon of last resort, much as they had been in the trenches of WWI .
